In August 2010, I decided to focus my landscape photography within the confines of the town of Marblehead, MA. This seaside town that has been my home since 2008 offered a wealth of photographic opportunities in an area of just four and a half square miles. I began with the landmarks, moved on to lesser known spots and, through this project, have learned an incredible amount about my new home town.
A New England town on the North Shore of Massachusetts which was founded in 1629, Marblehead really does have it all. There are 300 year old houses and buildings. The Atlantic ocean, two harbors, and multiple ponds. There are beaches both sandy and rocky. Beautiful historic homes and buildings representing architectural styles that span the history of this nation. Cemeteries where some of the men and women that helped shape this country lay buried. Piers both private and public, playgrounds and more. I have tried to capture these scenes with a breadth of photographic techniques including long-exposure, black and white, high-dynamic range and night scenes.
